Reports

Overview

Members report a user or a message, and staff handle each report from a card with buttons. Every report is numbered and stored. Reports about a member or a message go to the server’s staff. A DM from Petto itself is reported with the button under it, and that report goes to the Petto team only: see DMs from Petto.

Reporting

The reason can have several words without quotes. The category (spam, harassment, hate, nsfw, scam, threats, impersonation, other) goes after it as --category spam, and asking for an urgent ping or hiding your name as --ping yes and --anonymous yes. Anonymous reports stay anonymous in every view.

The Report User form opened from a message: it reports griefer_99 and says that to report the message itself you use Report Message — In Discord: Report User from a message reports the person, not the message.

Under the message of griefer_99 Petto answers only to the reporter: Report 59 sent, Scam or phishing, and a DM will come when the staff close it — In Discord: the receipt after sending the form.

The report card

Each report is posted with buttons:

Button	What it does
Claim	Take the report. Release gives it back.
Resolve	Close it as handled. Asks for a reason.
Dismiss	Close it as not valid. Asks for a reason.
Reopen	Open a closed report again. Asks for a reason.
Invite reporter	Adds the reporter to the report’s thread (not for anonymous reports).

A closing reason is shown on the card, written in the report thread and sent to the reporter in a DM. When the report is resolved or dismissed the thread is locked and archived, and it opens again if the report is reopened.

/report config (a slash command only) opens a settings panel with selects, switches, a limits form and a Send test report button that also checks Petto can post in the channel. status is open, claimed, resolved, dismissed or all.

Settings

Setting	What it does
Channel	Where reports are posted.
Cooldown and daily limit	How often a member can report.
Required reason	Reports must have a reason.
Ping role and urgent role	The ping role is pinged on every report; the urgent role only when the reporter asks for it (`--ping yes` or the box of the form).
Thread	A discussion thread for each report.
DM the reporter	Tell the reporter when the report is closed.
Notify on claim	DM the reporter when staff claim the report.

Blocked members cannot send reports. A member who reported someone shows up in that member’s !history. The Reports card in Community → Community Settings of the dashboard turns reports on or off and sets the channel, the urgent moderator role and anonymous reports.
