Overview

The clownboard works exactly like the starboard, but with the clown. Where the star marks what a server loves, the 🤔 marks the message that is worth a laugh at someone’s expense: the worst take of the week, the plan that went wrong, the thing that made everyone laugh for the wrong reasons. When a message gets enough 🤔 reactions, Petto copies it to the clownboard channel. It has its own channel, its own emoji, its own count and its own reposts, so a server can have both boards at once, or only one.

In Discord: a message that got seven 🤔, reposted in the clownboard.

It needs Manage Server to configure. The same settings are in the Boards page of the dashboard (Community), a card for each board with a sample of the repost.

Setting it up

liam sets #clownboard and Petto answers with the threshold, the emoji and the channel

In Discord: the channel of the reposts.

liam enables the clownboard and Petto says it is on in #clownboard

In Discord: the board turned on with the current settings.

liam disables the clownboard, Petto confirms it, and kira's view says it is disabled

In Discord: the board turned off; view then says it is disabled.

liam sets the threshold to 5 and Petto confirms it

In Discord: how many reactions a message needs.

liam sets 🤔 šŸŽŖ and Petto answers with both emojis

In Discord: two emojis: the first is the main one.

chu asks for the settings: channel, threshold 5, emoji, self-react off, the usual message, one ignored channel and one ignored role

In Discord: the current settings.

  • set chooses the channel where the reposts go. enable turns it on with the current settings, and disable turns it off (and forgets the reposts it made).
  • threshold is how many reactions a message needs (from 1 to 100, default 3).
  • emoji is the reaction that counts, a Unicode or a custom emoji (default 🤔). You can give up to 5 (!clownboard emoji 🤔 šŸŽŖ): the first is the main one, a message counts with any of them, and someone who reacts with several counts once.
  • view shows the current settings.
Short names: !cwb and !clown.

The rest

Everything else is the same as in the starboard, with the same words:
  • !clownboard selfclown <enabled>: let people count their own reaction (off by default).
  • !clownboard ignore <channel|role|member> <target> and unignore: messages from there never reach the board.
  • !clownboard message <template> (or none): a saved embed for the reposts. It has its own {clown.*} variables: {clown.count}, {clown.emoji}, {clown.channel}, {clown.link}, {clown.author}, {clown.content}, {clown.image} and the rest, the same ones the starboard has as {star.*}.
  • !clownboardconfig shows the whole configuration in one place.
liam runs selfclown true and Petto confirms the settings of the clownboard

In Discord: the author's own reaction counts now.

kira ignores #bot-commands and @Muted, then unignores #bot-commands, and Petto confirms each one

In Discord: a channel and a role ignored, and the channel taken back with unignore.

liam picks a saved embed and Petto says its variables start with the board's name, then none brings back the usual message

In Discord: a saved embed for the reposts, and none to go back to the usual one.

Petto shows the channel, threshold, emoji, color, switches and ignores, and every command

In Discord: the whole configuration of the clownboard.

The repost shows the author, the text, the pictures, the count of 🤔 and a link to the original message, in a red embed. The count follows the reactions, and the repost goes away if they are taken back below the threshold.
