Overview

Counting is a game: members write the numbers in order in one channel (1, 2, 3…). Petto checks each number:
  • The right number gets a reaction (✅). A number that beats the record gets 🏆 only on the step the server chose (every 100 numbers by default, or never), so it does not pile up.
  • A wrong number gets ❌ and, by default, the count goes back to the start.
  • The same person cannot count two numbers in a row: someone else has to count in between. That message does not break the count.
  • Messages that are not numbers are chat and are left alone, so people can talk in the channel.
mia, nico, kira and shi count 41 to 44, each with a check reaction, and zoe chats in between without a reaction

In Discord: each right number gets ✅, and a message that is not a number is left alone.

maxwell writes 90 after 88; Petto reacts with a cross and says maxwell messed up at 88, it had to be 89, and the count starts again from 1; chu writes 1

In Discord: a wrong number gets ❌ and the count starts again from 1.

nico writes 213 and then 214; Petto reacts with a cross and says nico cannot count two numbers in a row, the next number is 214

In Discord: the same person cannot count twice in a row, and the count stays where it was.

If someone edits or deletes the last number, Petto says what it was, so nobody continues from a number that is not there.
ivy edits her 315 and Petto answers that ivy edited their number, the last number is 315 and the next one is 316

In Discord: the last number is edited, and Petto says which one it was.

Members count 498, 499 and 2*250 in the counting channel; Petto marks the record, announces 500 and a save, and after a wrong 503 says a save was used

In Discord: the count reaches 500 with a sum, a record that earns a save, and the next mistake uses it.

Commands

liam types !counting setup #counting and Petto answers that the counting game is on and the first number is 1

In Discord: the game starts in #counting.

chu types !counting next and Petto answers that the next number is 503 in #counting, record 500

In Discord: the next number and the record.

Chillet types !counting stats and Petto answers 812 right, 9 wrong, 99% right and highest number 341

In Discord: the numbers of a member.

chu types !counting leaderboard and Petto lists Chillet 812 right, kira 640, mia.draws 515 and five more

In Discord: who has counted the most.

liam types !counting config and Petto lists the channel at 502 with record 500, the rules, the saves 1 of 2, the reactions, the mistake role and the best counter role

In Discord: how the game is set up.

liam types !counting set saves 2 and Petto confirms the saves the server can keep: 2

In Discord: the server can keep 2 saves.

liam types !counting set math off and Petto confirms that sums such as 2*3+1 count as a number: off

In Discord: sums stop counting as numbers.

liam types !counting number 500 and Petto answers that the count is at 500 and the next number is 501

In Discord: the count is put at 500.

liam types !counting reset and Petto answers that the count starts again and the next number is 1

In Discord: the count starts again.

liam types !counting disable and Petto answers that the counting game is off and the numbers are kept

In Discord: the game stops, and the numbers are kept.

chu types !counting number 500 and Petto answers that you need the Manage Server permission

In Discord: a member without Manage Server cannot use the commands of the administrators.

Everything for administrators needs Manage Server. next, stats, leaderboard and config are for everyone. Short name: !count.

Sums

With sums on (the default) a member can write 2*3+1 and it counts as 7. It understands + - * / ^ and brackets, and only whole numbers: 7/2 is not a number. Petto never runs what is written as code.
chu writes 99, mia writes (4+6)^2 and it counts as 100, nico writes 7/2 with no reaction, and kira writes 101

In Discord: a sum counts as its result, and 7/2, which is not a whole number, is left alone as chat.

Saves

With saves (!counting set saves 2) the server keeps up to that many saves (0 to 5; 0, no saves, by default). A save forgives one mistake: the count does not go back. One new save is earned every 100 numbers (save_every).
At 600 Petto says 600 reached and the server earned a save, 1 of 2; maxwell writes 611 and Petto says a save was used and the next number is still 601; ivy writes 601

In Discord: a save is earned at 600, and the next mistake uses it instead of starting over.

Roles and alerts

  • Mistake role (wrong_role): given to who gets a number wrong. It lasts the minutes you choose (wrong_role_time, 60 by default) or, with 0, until that member’s next right number.
  • Role of the best counter (top_role): it moves to whoever has the most right numbers, so it changes hands when someone passes the first place.
  • Alerts that delete themselves (alert_time): the messages about a mistake (a wrong number, two in a row, an edited or deleted number) are deleted after that many seconds. 30 by default, 0 keeps them.
Petto has to be above those roles. none removes a role: !counting set top_role none.
liam types !counting set wrong_role @Miscounted and Petto confirms the role given to who gets a number wrong

In Discord: the mistake role.

liam types !counting set top_role @Counting Champ and Petto confirms the role of the best counter

In Discord: the role of the best counter.

liam types !counting set alert_time 30 and Petto confirms 30 seconds until the alerts of a mistake delete themselves

In Discord: the alerts of a mistake delete themselves after 30 seconds.

Settings

All of it can also be changed in the dashboard (Counting), which also shows the record, the right numbers and mistakes, and who counts the most.
The Counting page of Petto Land at 502 with a record of 500, its reactions, saves and roles

Dashboard → Community → Counting: the count now, the record, the right numbers and mistakes, and the settings.

Who counts the most: Chillet with 812 right, 9 mistakes and highest 341, then kira, mia.draws, chu, shi, nico, zoe_plays and liam

Dashboard → Community → Counting: who counts the most.

This is not the same as the server counters, which put numbers such as the member count in the name of a channel.
